Capitals NHL Draft Targets: Jimmy Snuggerud
With the NHL Draft just weeks away, the Washington Capitals are getting their ducks in a row, as they decide what they want to do with the No. 20 pick.
In the NHL Draft, the team went defense-heavy, taking four blueliners in Vincent Iorio, Brent Johnson, Joaquim Lemay and Dru Krebs and also selecting goaltender Chase Clark while adding just one forward: center Haakon Hanelt.
Nicklas Backstroms current situation and Tom Wilsons ACL surgery recently gave way to questions regarding the organizations forward depth, especially on the right side. And now, with regard to the future, the Capitals may be more drawn toward taking a center or winger in the first round.
Fortunately, this years draft pool has several talented options, and one name that might stand out is right wing Jimmy Snuggerud.

David Wilmer Snuggerud (born June 20, ) is an American former professional ice hockeyright wing who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) between and He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Supplemental Draft out of the University of Minnesota. Internationally Snuggerud played for the American national team at the Winter Olympics and the World Championships.
Playing career
[edit]After playing three seasons for the Golden Gophers and one for the U.S. National Team, Snuggerud joined the Sabres for the –90 season. After two-plus seasons with the Sabres, he was traded to the San Jose Sharks during the –92 season in exchange for Wayne Presley.
