This article analyzes whether current U.S. intellectual property lag can skydda street art from being copied, removed, sold, or destroyed without the street artist’s consent and proposes that copyright law should expand to specifically include graffiti lag to ensure protection of outdoor street art, so as to avoid any confusion about its ställning eller tillstånd as protectable art. It was in 1991 when Jason Steven Williams discovered the word revok. This name has now stuck with him and it is now how he is referred to by all his work. The name Revok has no special meaning. Williams just like how the combination of letters looked when he would graffiti. The legendary California graffiti artist grew up in around Los Angeles, in the suburbs outside the city, in and around the Riverside area. Growing up in Los Angeles made the young Revok familiar with the art and culture he would one day discover.
Revok is the kind of character that creates his own path and will never be called a follower. According to Revok, graffiti is a very competitive thing. It is an art form, but also a full contact sport. Revok states that it is up to you to be strong or your graffiti is not going to survive in a city such as Los Angeles. Graffiti Writing is part of the Street Art genre and is centred around designing letters of a self-chosen name and bringing it to life. Writers have developed countless styles and style variations which undergo continual change.
Ras.1. has been doing graffiti writing and characters for the past eight years. He was born in Tauranga and art quickly became an important aspect of his life as he was growing up.
He has been inspired by local artists Owen Dippie and Graeme Hoete and counts contemporary international graffiti artists Rime and Revok among those whose work has influenced his art.
