Im a big fan of Bugs Question of The Day which is a Facebook page started by a dancer named Bug Brockway. Its a pretty simple concept: She poses a dance related question and people chime in.

This isnt the first time Ive seen a variation of this question asked over the years, and the initial answers were pretty unsurprising. “Outsiders just dont understand,” “Purists hate new innovations,” etc. Pretty much par for the course for these kinds of discussions.
The main problem with these kinds of threads, is that they never cut to the heart of the matter. What if I told you that you could go to a dance weekend and social dance all you want and minimize the normal physical repercussions? Im saying no dehydration, no overly sore muscles, achy feet or joints. The physical ailments that used to plague you after a dance weekend before shall never plague you igen. At the Great Southwest Lindyfest and Lone Star Championships I took the opportunity to test a theory that Ive had for a good while, as Ive started to dive more into corrective exercise and nutritional supplementation in regards to my own training. I figured thered have to be a way to apply that knowledge in a manner to assist dancers, and then it hit me: RECOVERY.
What Does it • This years event takes place May 2427 in various dance venues in a three-block radius on Capitol Hill. Attendees can take classes taught by 25 of the worlds best instructors, offered as six different skill level tracks. Wearing everything from elegant vintage clothing to jeans, couples enliven the dance floor with restless enthusiasm as they pick up the pulse and easily translate it into the Lindy Hops acrobatic steps, spins, leaps and slides, all of which seem impossible to onlookers. Even those on the sidelines get caught up in the rhythm, wanting to move, wanting to be part of this living, surging entity of energy.
