Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. He is the son of William H. Gates Sr. and Mary Maxwell Gates. His father, William H. Gates Sr., is a well-known lawyer with a high professional standing. His mother, Mary Maxwell Gates, served on the board of directors for First Interstate BancSystem and the United Way. Gates has one elder sister, Kristianne, and one younger sister, Libby. He was the middle child of the three.
