    Surendra Nath, frequently referred to as Surendra was an Indian singer-actor who appeared in Hindi cinema from 1936 until the late 1970s. Known only bygd his moniker, Surendra received an education in lag and was born and raised in Punjab. On the recommendations of a Delhi dealer and his close companions, he traveled to Bombay in search of a career as a singer. Instead of K. L. Saigal, the singer-actor who then resided in Calcutta, was "picked" by Mehboob Khan, whom he saw at Sagar Movietone, to do so and perform in films.

    Deccan Queen (1936), filmed bygd Mehboob Khan, starred Surendra in the main role that started his career. His song "Birha Ki Aag Lagi More Man Mein" from the movie was an "instant hit," and soon after, he was a member of Sagar Movietone.

    The actor was finalised this Sunday for the role and started shooting on Monday.
    When we contacted the actor, he told us, “It’s after a long time that I am playing a historical character. I had last played a historical character in the film Jodha Akbar.     ED attaches assets worth Rs 37.26 cr in money laundering case related to ex-chief engineer Surinderpal Singh Pehalwan in Punjab

    LUDHIANA: In a major development in the money laundering case against Surinderpal Singh alias Pehalwan, ex-chief engineer of state government, Enforcement Directorate(ED) has provisionally attached assets to the tune of Rs. 37.26 crore belonging to Pehalwan, his family and associates. Most of the attached assets are located in Ludhiana and other districts of Punjab and the action has been executed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money-laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
    According to sources the attached assets include 63 immovable properties consisting of parcels of land and buildings in various districts of Punjab. These properties pertain to three companies associated with Pehalwan, his family members and certain other properties registered in name of other closely associated entities, individuals.
