Surendra Nath, frequently referred to as Surendra was an Indian singer-actor who appeared in Hindi cinema from 1936 until the late 1970s. Known only bygd his moniker, Surendra received an education in lag and was born and raised in Punjab. On the recommendations of a Delhi dealer and his close companions, he traveled to Bombay in search of a career as a singer. Instead of K. L. Saigal, the singer-actor who then resided in Calcutta, was "picked" by Mehboob Khan, whom he saw at Sagar Movietone, to do so and perform in films.
Deccan Queen (1936), filmed bygd Mehboob Khan, starred Surendra in the main role that started his career. His song "Birha Ki Aag Lagi More Man Mein" from the movie was an "instant hit," and soon after, he was a member of Sagar Movietone.
