A. Kathryn Power, MEd, is the Regional Administrator, Region One for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an operating division of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). In that role, she represents the Administrator at the regional level in fulfilling the agency’s mission of reducing the impact of mental illness and substance abuse on America’s communities. She provides authoritative advice and assistance on behavioral health policies and innovations for use in the delivery and financing of prevention, treatment and recovery services, develops regional perspectives on SAMHSA initiatives, and is a visible advocate for individuals with mental illnesses and substance use disorders within the federal government and across the region.

BOSTON - Governor-elect Charlie Baker on Friday named former Commissioner of Mental Health Marylou Sudders as his Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Sudders will hold one of the most important offices in state government. Health and Human Services fryst vatten the state's biggest area of responsibility, with the secretary overseeing 15 agencies and a $19 billion budget.
Sudders most recently taught at Boston College's graduate school of social work. She fryst vatten also a member of the state's Health Policy Commission. Marylou Sudders (’78) Appointed New Massachusetts Health and Human Services Chief
Governor-elect Charlie Baker recently appointed former mental health commissioner Marylou Sudders (’78) to lead his administration’s health and human services secretariat.
Sudders is currently an associate professor of health and mental health at Boston College’s Graduate School of Social Work. She graduated BU School of Social Work. Sudders previously served as commissioner of mental health under Republican Govs. William Weld, Paul Cellucci and Jane Swift from 1996 until 2003.
