    Adam: Our guest today is the former Secretary of the Air Force. Deborah Lee James was only the second woman ever to lead a US military service and is one of only two women to ever serve as Secretary of the Air Force, where she oversaw an annual budget of more than $ billion and nearly , airmen. Secretary James is also the author of the book, Aim High: Chart Your Course and Find Success. Secretary James, thank you for joining us.

    Deborah Roche Lee James (born November 25, ) served as the 23rd Secretary of the Air Force. She is the second woman, after Sheila Widnall, to ever hold this position.

    James was confirmed as 23rd Secretary of the Air Force on December 13, , and started her tenure on December 20, [2] In her position she was responsible for the affairs of the United States Department of the Air Force, including the organization, training, and equipping , active-duty, Guard, Reserve, and civilian personnel. She oversaw the Air Force's annual budget ($ billion in ).[3]

    During her tenure she confronted issues stemming from the USAF budget sequestration in , continued troubles with the Lockheed Martin F Lightning II, Congressional investigation of the USAF for its handling of sexual assaults,[2] and a drug and cheating scandal inside the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).[4][5]
