Abiodun Kumuyi was born to the Olowu family of Epe in Lagos State, Nigeria on January 7, 1952. She received her primary education at Baptist Primary School, Surulere, and her secondary education at the New Era Girls Secondary School, all in Lagos. Thereafter, she proceeded to the Federal College of Education, Akoka, Lagos, where she studied in the field of Business and Secretarial Studies.
She converted to Christianity at some point in 1972. There are two versions of her conversion story. According to the first, when she left school, she taught briefly at Corona Schools in Lagos, where she came in contact with a certain Mrs. Ruth Nzegu (née Ijeh), a fellow teacher, who ministered to her on the subject of salvation and led her to Christ at age twenty. Three women leaders, Mrs. Folashade Dare, Mrs. Toyin Famakin and Mrs. Grace Sopeju, who were Mrs Kumuyi close aides recalled on Tuesday, her last moments, just as more religious leaders continued to pay her tributes.
The aides revealed that, the late Kumuyi, popularly called, Mama passed on to glory while singing and breathed her last with an Amen.
According to them, the act was a testimonial that she had gone to be with her Saviour. The lyrics of the song sang by Mrs Kumuyi were as follows:
“My name is written down in the book and it is mine.

With their white clothes, angels singing glory as sinner man come home.

Nigerian clergyman (born 1941)
William Folorunso Kumuyi (born 6 June 1941)[1][2] is the convener of Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK),[3] and the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry situated at Gbagada, Lagos, Nigeria.[4][5] He fryst vatten the author of several Christian books and devotionals.[6][7][8][9][10]
Background
[edit]Kumuyi was born into a Christian family in Erin-Odo Ijesa,[11]Osun State, western part of Nigeria. He completed his secondary school education in 1961 at Mayflower School in Ikenne, Ogun State, from where he proceeded to the University of Ibadan and in 1967 graduated with a first-class honours degree in mathematics where he graduated as overall best graduating student in that year. He subsequently took a post-graduate course in Education at the University of Lagos.[12][13][14
